Community

Our belief in building, nurturing and sustaining community lies at the heart of the Palestine Writing Workshop. It is of the utmost importance that the work we do focus on developing and supporting that community, both formally and informally. Because of this, students registered in 10 week courses also participate in Small Groups, and attend (as both presenters and audience members) a Colloquia Series. Additionally, students have the opportunity to share time together and exchange ideas through Book Clubs. The Book Clubs are sometimes incorporated as a formal part of a workshop or course.

In addition to these structured and more formal initiatives, we facilitate various  public and community events to showcase Palestinian writers, including POP! Night (Poetry of Palestine! Night). Pop Night is a monthly literary performance event in Ramallah that encourages both emerging, visiting and established writers to read and share their work in a performance space at a cultural cafe. Pop Night is intended to inspire and engage other writers and audience members, and boost  creative expression within our growing community.
